New Delhi: Anant Singh—the JD(U) MLA from Mokama and a prominent strongman leader—walked out of Beur Jail on Monday, March 23, after a four-month incarceration. He has been granted bail in the Dularchand Yadav murder case. As soon as he emerged from the prison, his supporters erupted in slogans and cheers. The strongman leader departed from the jail for his home in a Land Cruiser, accompanied by a convoy of 50 vehicles.

What did Anant Singh do after release?

Upon his release, Anant Singh headed directly to the MLA quarters, where he waved to acknowledge and greet his supporters. He asserted that he had been framed in a false case and that, at the time of the incident in question, he was approximately four kilometers away from the actual site. "I will explain tomorrow how I managed to secure my release so quickly," he stated.

When a reporter asked why he, specifically, is repeatedly targeted and framed in such cases, Anant Singh retorted sharply: "Why am I repeatedly framed? Should I be the one to tell you? You go and ask them yourself. Everyone knows that I was four kilometers away." He further mentioned that he intends to visit Barahiya tomorrow to offer prayers to Goddess Durga.

How have Anant Singh's supporters reacted?

Meanwhile, Anant Singh's residence has been elaborately decorated with flowers and garlands. Arrangements have also been made to host a feast for his supporters; to this end, approximately 300,000 *Rasgullas* have been prepared. Additionally, other delicacies—including samosas, puris, vegetable curries, and pulao—are being prepared. Supporters had arrived in a Land Cruiser to receive Anant Singh upon his release.

How will Anant Singh celebrate in Mokama?

Anant Singh is scheduled to depart from his Patna residence for Mokama on Tuesday (March 24). He plans to conduct a 50-kilometer-long roadshow across his legislative constituency. During this event, he will travel by road from Mokama to the Barahiya Maharani Sthan Temple. Supporters are expected to welcome him at various points along the route.

Dularchand Yadav was murdered on October 30, 2025, during the election campaigning for the Bihar Legislative Assembly polls. Following this incident, on November 1, the Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) arrested the MLA from his residence in Mokama. Following his court appearance on November 2, Anant Singh was sent to Beur Jail; nearly four months later, on March 20, the RJD leader was granted bail by the Patna High Court in connection with the Dularchand murder case.

To celebrate Anant Singh's release, preparations for a grand welcome have been made at his residence located on Mall Road in Patna. A large marquee (pandal) has been erected at his Patna home. Approximately 1,000 to 1,500 chairs have been arranged for the occasion. Given the prevailing heat, large fans and air coolers are also being brought in to ensure that his supporters do not face any discomfort. It is anticipated that more than 10,000 to 15,000 supporters will gather here tomorrow.

A feast is also being organized at Anant Singh's Patna residence for the thousands of supporters expected to gather there. A wide variety of dishes have been prepared for the attendees. Approximately 200,000 to 300,000 rasgullas are being made for the event.

What is the Dularchand Murder Case?

Dularchand was murdered on October 30 in the Mokama Tal region. Allegations regarding the crime were leveled against Anant Singh and his supporters. Late on the night of November 1, Patna SSP Kartikeya Sharma personally arrived at Anant Singh's residence in Mokama and placed him under arrest. He has been incarcerated for nearly four months. During the previous hearing, Anant Singh's counsel presented four key arguments before the Patna High Court in support of his bail plea.

What are Arguments Presented in the Patna High Court?

1.  It was alleged that Anant Singh had personally shot Dularchand Yadav in the heel of his left foot. However, the post-mortem report cited fatal injuries inflicted by *lathis* (sticks) and being run over by a vehicle as the actual causes of death.

2.  A crucial argument presented was that statements had been recorded from the police personnel present at the crime scene, and not a single officer stated in their testimony that Anant Singh had fired a gun. 3. The grandson of Dularchand—on whose statement the case was registered—did not state that his grandfather had been murdered when he made his initial call to his father; rather, he simply informed him that his grandfather had passed away.

4. Anant Singh is a politician, and for this very reason, people frequently level baseless allegations against him.

RJD leader Dularchand was murdered on October 30 during a campaign event for Jan Suraj candidate Piyush Priyadarshi.

What has the Post-mortem Report Revealed?

According to the post-mortem report, deep wounds and signs of blood clotting were found at multiple locations on the body. The lungs were found to be ruptured, resulting in significant internal bleeding. Several ribs in the chest area were found to be fractured.

Notably, signs of injury were also discovered near the vertebrae (spine), particularly on the right side. Deep wounds and injuries were observed on the head, knees, ankles, and back. Additionally, the report notes a firearm (gunshot) injury near the right leg—indicating the presence of a bullet wound.

What about FIRs Filed in the Dularchand Murder Case?

According to Patna SSP Kartikeya Sharma, a total of four FIRs have been registered in connection with this case so far. It is worth noting that the first case was lodged at the Bhadaur police station by Dularchand's grandson, Neeraj Kumar. The second was filed by Anant's supporter, Jitendra Kumar, while the third case was registered by the police on their own initiative.

Did Dularchand insult Anant Singh's Wife?

Two days prior to his murder, Dularchand had made derogatory remarks regarding Anant Singh's wife. He had stated, "She is not Neelam Devi; she is Neelam Khatoon. When she was contesting the election, people were running around carrying carpets, remarking that a 'dancer' had arrived. Anant Singh simply 'kept' her. Did the two of them ever actually get married? Neelam Devi is certainly not a Bhumihar."

What did Anant Singh Announce?

JDU MLA Anant Singh has announced that he will no longer contest Assembly elections. After casting his vote for the Rajya Sabha elections, he stepped out and spoke to the media. Anant Singh was asked who the next Chief Minister would be. In response, he stated that Nitish Ji would make that decision.

When asked about contesting elections without Nitish, he remarked, "If Nitish is not there, I will not contest the elections either." He was then asked whom he preferred between Nishant and Tejashwi; however, Anant Singh evaded answering this question.
